Jessica Simpson as Daisy Duke

Jessica Simpson is toning up her bottom for her role as Daisy Duke in upcoming movie 'The Dukes Of Hazzard'.

The sexy singer beat off competition from Britney Spears to land the coveted role as hot-pant wearing Daisy, and she is determined to be in great shape for it.

She said: "I can't wait! She was so sexy. I'll have to start doing squats to make my butt a bit perkier."

The star is also thrilled at beating Britney to the part.

She added: "Britney can do tens of millions of movies. I'm glad this one's mine!"

The Dukes of Hazzard follows the adventures of cousins Bo Duke and Luke Duke, and their curvaceous cousin Daisy Duke, as they torment the hapless lawmen of Hazzard County in the hills of Georgia. The Dukes' Uncle Jesse, formerly the moonshine runner in Hazzard County, makes a deal with the government to stop the family trade in exchange for keeping the family out of jail.

Nevertheless, the Dukes have a knack for getting into trouble, which usually involve run-ins with the bent county boss, Boss Hogg and the town sheriff, Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane and of course his vicious hound, Flash.

Based on the 70's hit TV show. The show first aired from 1979 to 1985 on CBS, ranking No. 1 for its time slot during six seasons.

Jessica Simpson Reveals How She Got in 'Daisy Duke' Shape

In an interview with "Access Hollywood's" Billy Bush, pop star Jessica Simpson reveals the diet and exercise regime that prepared her to wear "Daisy Duke's" signature shorts in The Dukes of Hazzard.

Simpson says that parting with sugar has proven to be the most difficult task. "I try to stay away from sugars as much as I can, which is hard," she says.

The pop star says that skipping out on her strenuous workout routine is not an option, even if shooting on The Dukes of Hazzard set runs late. "I basically work out two hours a day," she says. "Last night I finally got to go to the gym at ten o'clock... and I was on the treadmill for an hour."

When Bush asked if two hours in the gym every day was a bit much, Simpson replied, "You've seen what I'm wearing, Billy."

Simpson also confirmed that she and husband Nick Lachey send each other risqué text messages to keep the spark alive while she is away from home. "That's our way of flirting," she says. When Bush prompted the "Newlyweds" star to reveal the content of the messages, Simpson smiled and replied, "I can't tell you that, those are our secrets."

Catherine Bach was The Duke of Hazzard's original Daisy Duke.

Lil' Daisy Duke (Catherine Bach) helped inspire those itty-bitty shorts called, most befitting, Daisy Dukes. Girls went out in droves and bought them. They also dug in their closets and pulled out their old pair of jeans. Coffee stain on the seat? Grass-tarnished knees? Unidentified substance on the cuffs? No problem! Just whip out a pair of scissors and cut away. Bonus points if you can manage to let your ass cheeks hang out without letting your butt crack show.
